Engine Oil Replacement Reminder Light (MAINT REQD) [1]
  • For vehicles sold in the U.S.A., the light serves as a reminder to replace the engine oil and illuminates briefly when the ignition is turned to ON
  • After the maintenance light is reset, the system begins counting mileage toward the 4,500‑mile and 5,000‑mile reminders.
  • 4,500 miles: Light illuminates for 3 seconds then flashes for 12 seconds at ignition ON.
  • 5,000 miles: Light illuminates at ignition ON and stays ON.

1. ENGINE OIL VISUAL INSPECTION
Using the dipstick to visually check your engine's oil provides a quick snapshot of your engine's health. This brief inspection can reveal oil leaks, internal coolant leaks, mechanical issues, and more.
  1. To obtain an accurate level reading, ensure the following requirements are met:
    1. The vehicle is on level ground.
    2. The engine is at operating temperature and turned off.
    3. The engine has been in the off state for over 2 minutes to allow the oil to drain within the engine.
  2. Remove the dipstick and wipe clean with a towel.
  3. Reinstall the dipstick, ensuring it is fully seated.
  4. Remove the dipstick and visually inspect the engine oil and its level.

6. INSTALL NEW OIL FILTER
  1. Verify that the old filter’s gasket has been completely removed from the engine mounting surface. A stuck gasket can cause leaks and improper sealing.
  2. Before installing the new oil filter, apply a small amount of fresh engine oil to its gasket. This helps create a proper seal and makes removal easier during the next oil change.
